Grandview Trail

Steep trail with mining history, huge 360 degree views, and an insane cave.

The Grandview Trail is one of my favorite trails in Grand Canyon. I have spent well over 100 nights on Horseshoe Mesa and I know all the best spots in the area. This includes fresh cold water springs, an insane cave, and huge 360 degree views that will inspire. This is an old mining trail built by Pete Berry in 1892. There are remains of the Last Chance Mine copper mining operation all over the Mesa. With Cottonwood Creek to the west and Hance Creek to the East. There is enough adventure here for any experienced traveler. This trail is off the beaten path and will give you the solitude you are looking for. The trail is steep and has sections of cobblestone that were laid by the miners over 100 years ago. The Coconino Saddle is about 1 mile down the trail and Horseshoe Mesa is about 3 miles from the trail-head. When we are at the Mesa, we will have our amazing fresh lunch and discuss our options to make your day at the Grand Canyon one you will never forget.

At Only Grand Canyon Day Hikes, we use only name brand gear. Our packs are made by Camelbak and our trekking poles are Mountainsmith. We include a free brand new bladder for every hiker coming with us in the canyon. Having been a gear tester for Backpacker Magazine, I understand how being properly outfitted can be the difference between a dream hike and a nightmare trip. Please call or e-mail anytime with questions from what boot to consider to which materials are best for the canyon.
